About the Show
Characters
Joe Loveall – Entitled, charismatic guy who seems to have it all together before the accident. Afterwards, he fluctuates between old ways and feeling lost, in earnest inquiry.
Mr. Lowell Loveall – Joe’s father. A stern, somewhat stoic man with a crotchety nature that is a game for him, just to get a rise out of others. Appreciates the sweet nature of his wife, who helps balance his roughness.
Mrs. Angela Loveall – Joe’s mother. Warm and gracious, loves mothering the men in her life. Underneath her Southern sweetness, big smiles, and lilting voice is a strong intelligence and sly sense of humor. Faith is her strength. Rare to see her without a smile.
Ray – Joe’s best friend and confidante since childhood. A Texas ‘good ole boy’, with a lot of earnest enthusiasm. Not a deep thinker, stream-of-consciousness talker. Has a goofy, crude sense of humor. Like a kid who’s excited about everything. Embodies heart.
Jesse – Joe’s fiance, female. Sweet, straight-shooting, analytical, elementary school teacher, guarded after the crash. A true romantic.
Yirian – Bright 9-year-old boy. Full of spunk and very sharp. Smart aleck.
Wings – Physical therapist with Native American heritage, has a deep sense of the mystical. Direct and looks people in the eye. Underneath his fierceness, strength, and intelligence is a warm, nurturing spirit and playful humor that comes out over time.
Tezcatlipoca – Menacing, seductive, and bemused Toltec God. Has a strong voice and presence. Teases and titilates Joe when he is being obstinate. Is softer when Joe is authentically grappling with his limited perceptions.
